Trigonometry: Now With Algebra
I'm late to the party on this news as well, but a professor at the University of New South Wales, Dr Norman Wildberger, has apparently redefined trigonometry in such a way as to remove sines, cosines, and tangents, replacing them with "elementary arithmetic." It's a remarkable intellectual achievement, and it appears to be entirely valid.Here's the link (via Slashdot): http://physorg.com/news6555.html.
